Dear Alumni of Camp Emerald Bay,

Sunday June 14th marked the first day of campers for the summer season here at Camp Emerald Bay. That also means that our first “official” campfire was held at the Emerald Bay Alumni Campfire Circle at 8:15pm on Sunday night.

And what a resounding success it was. It was extremely exciting to see the seats filled with 460 scouts and staff, with room to spare for the bigger numbers we will have later this summer. I stood at the top of the circle during one of John George’s stories and sound travels very well throughout the circle; there was no struggle to hear from the back of the house. When we sung the hymn at the end of the campfire, there was plenty of space for our entire staff to gather around the fires after the scouts had departed. Our only regret is that in the midst of the excitement, we neglected to take photos on Sunday. I plan on having my camera out for Friday night’s fire to make sure the opportunity is not missed again.

It is with heartfelt appreciation that I, on behalf of the entire Emerald Bay Staff, thank the Emerald Bay Alumni association for the donation of the new campfire circle. We look forward to hosting thousand of scouts in its seats for decades to come.
